OUR COMMITMENT
Make your coffee shop at home as dolce for the planet as it is for you
What sustainable actions are we taking?
30% less virgin plastic since 2018
We are improving the design of our capsules and machines to use less virgin plastic in our products.

Reduce
Reduce plastic by lightening the weight of our capsule
Since 2022, we have reduced the amount of polypropylene in our capsules by 13% without compromising on the quality of our coffee and beverages.
As an example, the weight of our Café au Lait capsule went from 3.3g to 2.9g, saving 0.4g of plastic per unit.

Recover
Increase the use of recycled plastic and the life of each machine
Since 2021 we have started to invest in the circular economy of polypropylene in partnership with our suppliers contributing to the company target of virgin plastic reduction.
Recycle
Improve collection & recycling rates
In most of our global markets, we cooperate with local players to develop collection and recycling schemes.

Rethink
Explore new frontiers of circular materials
We are exploring new materials and technologies as alternatives to fossil plastic, made of renewable and/or recycled raw materials, without compromising on quality and convenience for our consumers.

Increase the use of recycled plastic and the life of each machine.
Since 2024, all NDG machine models produced are made with at least 30% recycled materials.
All our machines are made to last. They are designed to be repairable with a warranty of 10 years in collaboration with our machine partner Delonghi.
Towards regenerative agriculture
At NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto®, we are increasing coffee and cocoa sourced from regenerative agriculture practices that can improve soil health and protect biodiversity.
Explore our coffee and cocoa initiatives:
Our coffee comes from the Nescafé Plan
Every cup you drink helps make a difference. At NESCAFÉ® Dolce
Gusto®, we source coffee via the Nescafé Plan, our sustainability
program. This ensures our coffee is traceable to group of farms
that meet external program sustainability standards, covering
social and environmental practices, including farmers' working
conditions and optimising soil fertilizers.
Our cocoa comes from the Nestlé Cocoa Plan
Discover how our Nestlé Cocoa Plan (in collaboration with the Rainforest Alliance) is helping cocoa farmers to enhance their livelihoods. With the help of our partners, we train cocoa farmers in good agricultural practices such as planting native fruit and forest trees while also investing in school renovations.
Moving towards regenerative agriculture for coffee
Regenerative agriculture is an approach to farming that aims to improve soil health and fertility while also protecting water resources and biodiversity.
The Nescafé Plan has been able to increase the share of coffee sourced from farmers adopting regenerative agriculture practices.
Did you know?
Milk represents around 30% of our total greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) . We are investing in reduced-carbon milk farming by piloting programs in Spain and France with local partners to help them implement practices which aim to reduce GHG while optimizing farming practices such as soil management, manure-feeding and digestion management.
Contribute to Nestlé's GHG emission reduction target by 50% in 2030
Contributing to Nestlé's Net Zero journey, we are working hard to reduce our GHG emissions in our value chain, from sourcing our ingredients, packaging our products, and designing our machines to managing our logistics, factories, and energy.
